Ministry has always been a challenge beginning from the time of Moses to the newly ordained minister of our time; not overemphasizing the difficulties and high challenges it brings today. Yet, the church of Christ must thrive to the end till He comes.
Ministry has always been a challenge beginning from the time of Moses to the newly ordained minister of our time; not overemphasizing the difficulties and high challenges it brings today. Yet, the church of Christ must thrive to the end till He comes.
The main challenges of the pastor have always been from personal self organization, within the church and without. The amass of reports, various meetings to attend, preaching appointments, family nurture, personal leisure, community responsibilities and many other ministerial tasks sometimes make the minister bend on fatigue and despair. But these phenomena, no matter how severe it may be, can be an enriching experience to the minister as he struggles and focuses on his intimate relationship with Christ.
When Jesus gave commission to preach the gospel and also to care for His church, He didn’t only give command, He also gave power and promises. He said, “… All power is given unto me in Heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. ” (Mathew 28, 18-20 KJV)
This wonderful promise and many other promises of our Lord Jesus must be a striking daily resonance in the minister’s heart to keep him steadfast and to fall in love with his ministry. Not only that per se, but to also efficiently equip self for all ministerial responsibilities. Any deviation which gears contrary to this may ruin the minister and his ministry; and for that matter the church of the living God.
